Hub: Urban Ministries loves the impoverished of Shreveport’s inner city.  We want the poor to know who they are as God’s creatures, and who they can become because of what their Creator has done through His Son, Jesus.

The Hub desires to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the lives of the broken.  We strive to meet the very real physical needs of those whom God has given us to love.  And while addressing those needs, we proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, expressing our heartfelt desire—which is our Lord’s desire!—to be in lasting fellowship with them (1 John 1:3-4). Our aim is to love the poor through friendship, connecting them to the resources they need to be set free from poverty.

We are not about handouts, we are about poverty alleviation.  The Hub does not want to put a band-aid on the problems of poverty, instead offer pathways to seeing people set free from poverty on every level.

The Hub also seeks to connect local churches with those who are often overlooked and unloved.  We partner hand in hand with volunteers from all over the area to see lives changed.  We believe that God has called his churches to be unified in this work—as “one spirit with one soul, striving together for the faith of the gospel” (Phil 1:27).  And we are convinced that the gospel begins with blessings upon the poor and the promise that the Kingdom of Heaven is truly theirs (Matt 5:3)

God’s heart is for the poor.  Taking our treatment of “the least of these” personally, He commands us to care for them (Matt 25:31-46).  The Hub strives to do this with excellence and passion.
