This event started at the beginning of this year when Rachel Hannah came into our store for some paint sticks for her school. We started talking to her and decided it would be a good idea if adopted the school as one of our community projects. We became a partner of the Adopt A School Program for Lake Air Montessori School. While we were taking a tour of the school myself and Assistant Store Mgr. Rod Serrano noticed a garden that looked pretty bad. We asked Rachel if this something we could take on as a project with the kids to help revitalize their garden. She agreed and the project got rolling. We had a blast working with the kids on rebuilding this garden. During the process the teachers were out there with the students and they were learning about each of the plants and vegetables. The garden will be maintained by the students in the school. We had over 20 employees and over 230 man hours working on this garden. We had donations from Bonnie Plants and Flores Roofing who donated 3 truckloads of dirt. We had the Waco ISD news station out there and it was put on KWTX Facebook page. We look forward to doing more with the school and the City of Waco in the future.
