John rejoined KWTX-News 10 in 2012 after a 23 year absence. He is an investigative reporter known for breaking key stories.
Since his return John has covered the West explosion, the Twin Peaks restaurant biker shootout, the 3 week long Chris Kyle murder trial, and four capital murder trial’s, three of which resulted in the death penalty.
He started in television anchoring the news on Good Morning Central Texas on KWTX then moved to anchor the 6 and 10 pm newscasts at News Ten for most all of the 1980's. John reported on Medical breakthroughs, covered the Republican National Convention in Dallas, conducted pre-Branch Davidian interviews of Vernon Howell (later – David Koresh). He has interviewed countless top politicians and is known for heavy hitting interviews.
He graduated from Baylor University with a BA degree in Radio/TV and Film. John was student station manager of KWBU-FM his senior year. He also played for the men's Baylor soccer team and was a member of Kappa Omega Tau social service fraternity. He has worked at 8 Central Texas radio stations and two TV News departments.
John was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and is fluent in Spanish. He is a Texas Licensed Court Interpreter, and from time to time will interpret for the Texas Attorney General's Office.
He has lived in the Waco area ever since he graduated from Baylor. He raised his family in China Spring. John's wife of 27 years lost her battle with brain cancer in 2005. John has three wonderful adult children.
